I had heard many good things about the Bordeaux region wines. When the opportunity presented itself to attended a complimentary Bordeaux wine tasting event last week at Sam’s Wine and Spirits I jumped at it.
I found the crowd rather interesting and diverse. It ran from the “I don’t know a damn thing about wine” to the “Wine Connoisseur”. I don’t follow the wine ratings or even pretend to know much about the complexities of wine. I’m just your average Joe who buys and drinks what tastes good.
21 sips later and I walked, in a fairly straight line, home a bit disappointed. I will discount the last table of 6 wines since my taste buds were on overload.
Of the first 15 I tried, only one stands out as outstanding (Chateaux Liversan Haut-Medoc 2003). There were a few others that would be good to serve or bring to a party (Chateaux Moueix Merlot Berdeaux 2003, Prince Noir Camarsac Bordeaux Superieur 2003 and Chateaux Puynormond Montagne St-Emilion 2003).
I suggest heading out to your favorite wine store to grab few bottles of Bordeaux. Invite a friend or two over and relax with glass in hand and bottle nearby.
